What’s with the Allman Brothers Band and mushrooms?

I’m curious about the prevalent use of mushroom imagery in just about everything related to the band.
Believe me, I know all about the effects of psychedelics and the prevalent use of them in the time, but it just seems kind of odd to me that a bluesy band from the south to choose to have mushrooms in particular featured so heavily. Maybe they just couldn’t get acid down here, heh.

What are your favorite songs by The Allman Brothers Band?

This is an underrated band.
I’ve been jamming harmonica to their songs all morning. They really mixed jam band, jazz, and blues together nicely.
At The Fillmore is incredible!
‘You Don’t Love Me’ is amazing off the At The Fillmore album.
